Medical Acupuncture
Medical Acupuncture (Dry Needling) is a modern adaptation of the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture. Rather than focusing on the ancient beliefs of ‘yin’, ‘yang’ and ‘qi’ energy, medical acupuncture is based on a combined knowledge of physiology, pathology and anatomy. It is a therapeutic technique for the treatment of acute and chronic pain and for a number of musculoskeletal conditions.
The treatment involves the insertion of fine needles into certain points, defined as Trigger Points, across the body to encourage healing and pain relief. The needles are very fine and so most people feel nothing at all as the needles are inserted, some people feel a slight sharpness, the feeling experienced varies between person to person.
Only sterile, single-use, disposable needles will be used.
Medical acupuncture can be used in conjunction with a massage treatment or as a stand-alone treatment.
